Cornell University | SC Johnson School of Management
I’m Fred Asante, a Ph.D. candidate in Accounting at Cornell University’s SC Johnson College of Business, entering the 2025–2026 academic job market. I hold an MBA from Wake Forest University and a BBA in Accounting (with high distinction) from Howard University.
My research examines the intersection of accounting, banking, contracting, corporate social responsibility and development economics. I focus particularly on how debt markets, financial regulation, and supply chain governance shape economic behavior in both developed and developing economies. Within financial regulation, my work explores how regulatory harmonization influences the decision-making of local financial institutions.
Before academia, I built a professional career in corporate finance and commercial banking at Bank of America and gained additional experience at Deloitte & Touche, J.P. Morgan, and Lockheed Martin. These experiences inform my research by providing practical insights into the interaction between financial markets, regulatory frameworks, and corporate decision-making.
Research interests: Banking; Debt Contracting; Supply Chain Sustainability; Developing Economies; Alternative Data.
